Tata Motors Launches 17 Next-Gen Trucks: Azura Series and Trucks.ev Range Unveiled

Mumbai, January 22, 2026: Tata Motors rolled out one of its biggest product updates in the commercial vehicle segment yesterday, introducing 17 next-generation trucks ranging from 7 to 55 tonnes. The launch includes the all-new Azura series for intermediate and light commercial vehicles, the full Trucks.ev electric portfolio, and major upgrades to the existing Prima, Signa, and Ultra platforms.

This move comes as Indian transporters look for better efficiency, safety, and sustainable options amid growing logistics demand.

Key Highlights from the Launch

The Azura series targets the 7-19 tonne segment with a fresh design powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine. These trucks suit applications like e-commerce deliveries, FMCG distribution, white goods transport, construction materials, agricultural goods, and medium-haul regional logistics.

The Trucks.ev range covers electric trucks from 7 to 55 tonnes, built on the Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle (IMOEV) architecture. It includes models like Ultra EV in 7, 9, and 12-tonne variants for urban, regional, and closed-loop operations. The Prima E.55S prime mover offers 630 BHP with a 453 kWh battery for heavy-duty use, while the Prima E.28K electric tipper focuses on mining and construction.

Upgraded Prima, Signa, and Ultra models bring improvements in fuel efficiency and features.

Safety and Technology Upgrades

All trucks in the portfolio, including Azura, meet the ECE R29 03 global crash safety standard. Cabins are built for full frontal, rollover, and side-impact protection. Up to 23 advanced active safety features are available, such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and collision mitigation systems—tailored for Indian roads.

Fleet Edge, the next-gen connected vehicle platform, comes across the range for better fleet management and uptime.

Why This Launch Matters

Tata Motors leads the Indian truck market, and this refresh addresses key needs like higher payload, better fuel economy (up to 8% in some upgraded ICE models), and electric options for green logistics.

The Azura range aims to boost profitability in the ILMCV space, while Trucks.ev positions Tata strongly in the growing EV commercial segment.

No pricing or exact delivery timelines were shared at launch, but these trucks are now available in the Indian market.

For transporters and fleet operators in Mumbai and across India, this lineup offers more choices for modern operations. With focus on safety, connectivity, and electrification, it could help reduce costs and meet future regulations.
